Shakey Jake ā Mouth Harp Blues – Analogue Productions 45RPM 180g 2 LP Vinyl
The late James Harris earned the moniker āShakey Jakeā due to his proficiency at dice, but he was equally adept at the blues game. The Arkansas-born, Chicago-based singer and harmonica blower traveled to Rudy Van Gelderās New Jersey studio in November 1960 to record Mouth Harp Blues.. Jake brought along Jimmie Lee Robinson, the brilliant, fast-fingered guitarist best known for his work with Little Walterās band. Also making tasty contributions to the session was Robert Banks, the New York R&B and gospel studio organist who, in this case, ably appointed himself as a two-fisted blues piano stylist. Among the 10 selections is the distinctively loping āEasy Baby,ā a tune also associated with Jakeās nephew Magic Sam.

āQuentin Collins is a leading figure on the British jazz scene, comfortable with many styles but most often adopting the post-bop language of players like Lee Morgan and Freddie Hubbard. Collins performs with a wide range of musicians and appears regularly at Londonās most prestigious jazz venues, including Ronnie Scottās and Club 606. The artist plays carbon fiber daCarbo instruments, said to optimize vibration so less energy is wasted in the air column within the horn. ā Absolute Sound
Miles Davis – Porgy and Bess Mofi Hybrid SACD
All MoFi SACD's will play in a standard CD player
astered from the Original Master Tapes and Strictly Limited to 3,000 Numbered Copies
If a more significant, influential, and lasting result of a creative musical partnership exists than that of Miles Davis and Gil Evans' Porgy and Bess, society hasn't seen it. It's impossible to overstate the importance of the pair's collaboration on the landmark 1959 update of George Gershwin's opera. Transcending genre, time, and place, the profound statement finds Evans and Davis implementing modal approaches in a mainstream context and advancing jazz idioms that would become the foundation of the form's still-classic era. And that's saying nothing of the soulful playing ā legendary performances by Davis' first great quintet that can now be heard in pristine detail courtesy of this definitive digital edition.VIVALDI IN VENICE – CHASING THE DRAGON – 180g VINYL
