Clifford Jordan – Cliff Jordan – Blue Note Tone Poet Series 180g Vinyl
Under-recognized tenorman Clifford Jordan blew in from Chicago with a trio of excellent Blue Note sessions in 1957 including Cliff Jordan featuring a septet with Lee Morgan on trumpet, Curtis Fuller on trombone, John Jenkins on alto, Ray Bryant on piano, Paul Chambers on bass & Art Taylor on drums.
This mono Tone Poet Vinyl Edition was produced by Joe Harley, mastered by Kevin Gray from the original analog master tapes, pressed on 180g vinyl at RTI, and packaged in a deluxe gatefold tip-on jacket.
Chet Baker – Baker’s Holiday – (Verve Records – Acoustic Sounds Series ) 180g 1LP Gatefold Sleeve
Recorded in 1965 and showcasing a number of songs he’d never recorded before, Baker’s Holiday is Chet’s tribute to Billie Holiday and features his instantly-identifiable trumpet along with four trademark vocals.
Backed by a full sax section and a four-piece rhythm section that includes pianist Hank Jones, this classic album highlights colourful Jimmy Mundy arrangements.

Pharoah Sanders – Live – Theresa Records 180 Vinyl 2 LP Gatefold Sleeve
This album features Pharoah Sanders playing some no-nonsense tenor in a quartet with pianist John Hicks, bassist Walter Booker, and drummer Idris Muhammad. Sanders performs “It’s Easy to Remember” (in a style very reminiscent of early-’60s John Coltrane), an original blues, and two of his compositions, including the passionate “You’ve Got to Have Freedom.”
The musicianship is at a high level and, although Sanders does not shriek as much as one might hope (the Trane-ish influence was particularly strong during this relatively mellow period), he is in fine form. Review by Scott Yanow/AMG

1965’s Dialogue was the debut by vibraphonist Bobby Hutcherson who had already proven himself a versatile sideman on albums from Idle Moments to Out To Lunch.
Dialogue showcased his more adventurous leanings with a sextet featuring Freddie Hubbard, Sam Rivers, Andrew Hill, Richard Davis & Joe Chambers.
