Chantal Chamberland – Dripping Indigo – Evosound Records 180g 2LP Coloured Vinyl
Smooth as a dry martini and equally intoxicating, Chantal Chamberland’s “Dripping Indigo” cements her role as one of the best interpreters of classic song book favorites.
Two factors set Chamberland’s music apart from the pack. First, the arrangements are slow and sexy relying on a small jazz ensemble for backing (piano, sax, bass light rhythm).
Secondly is her luscious voice, which caresses the listener with a breathy purr throughout the album.

Charles Mingus – Mingus Mingus Mingus Mingus Mingus 45RPM 180g Vinyl
45RPM 2 LP’s
“Mingus is also all about the ensemble…this reissue has a life and immediacy I’ve not heard before with this title, whose stunning music overwhelms any flaws of the recording.” – Wayne Garcia, The Absolute Sound, June/July 2009 Produced by Impulse! A&R director Bob Thiele in 1963, this recording is a major showcase of the talented Charles Mingus as a bassist, pianist and writer. In his 1963 original liner notes, critic-at-large Nat Hentoff said that of all the musicians, it is impossible to remain indifferent to Mingus. This recording more than any other testifies to Hentoff’s claim. More so today than in 60’s, there is truly only one Mingus, Mingus, Mingus, Mingus, Mingus.Charles Mingus – Pithecanthropus Erectus (Mono) – Analogue Productions Atlantic 75 Series 45 rpm 180g Vinyl
Charles Mingus – The Clown (Mono) – Analogue Productions Atlantic 75 Series 45 rpm 180g Vinyl
IN STOCK NOW
The Clown was Charles Mingus’ second masterpiece in a row, featuring Jean Shepard (yes, that Jean Shepard from the holiday movie A Christmas Story) on the title tune narrating a story about a clown attempting to please the world with his performances. The Clown also introduced two of Mingus’ finest compositions in the driving, determined “Haitian Fight Song” and the ’40s-flavored “Reincarnation of a Lovebird,” a peaceful but melancholy tribute to Charlie Parker; Mingus would return to both throughout his career.

"So far, Analogue Productions' series of outstanding reissues have avoided the missteps of the previous Classic Records issues, instead offering real improvements over the originals. ... The latest release, of this title and the Offenbach Gaite Parisienne (LSC 1817), keeps a perfect track record of outstanding Living Stereo releases by Analogue Productions. Pristine surfaces and better-defined layers of sound along with much finer texture add up to a wonderful experience of the famous Organ Symphony. The original is almost coarse sounding compared to this reissue. While the Offenbach reissue does not eclipse the original in all areas, the original remains very expensive and the reissue is superb." Recording = 10/10; Music = 10/10 - Dennis D. Davis, Hi-Fi +, Issue 119
"These are the best vinyl releases of RCA LPs I've yet heard." — Jonathan Valin, executive editor, The Absolute Sound
Charlie Mingus – Oh Yeah – Analogue Productions (Atlantic 75 Series) 180g 45rpm 2 LP Vinyl
Analogue Productions (Atlantic 75 Series) Celebrating the 75th Anniversary of Atlantic Records! A powerful, passionate and expressive album! 180-gram 45 RPM double LP Mastered by Kevin Gray at Cohearent Audio from the original analog master tape Pressed at Quality Record Pressings Tip-on old style gatefold double pocket jacket by Stoughton Printing
After several sessions with Columbia and Candid, Charles Mingus briefly returned to Atlantic and cut the freewheeling Oh Yeah, which AllMusic says has to rank as the wildest of all his classic albums. Mingus displays all of his vigorous jazz feeling on this album; he plays no bass whatsoever, hiring Doug Watkins to fill in while he accompanies the group on piano and contributes bluesy vocals to several tracks (while shouting encouragement on nearly all of them).Chasing The Dragon – Audiophile Recordings By Mike Valentine – CD
