The original and MKII Ultimate loudspeaker cables won many friends, most customers who purchased them have not up-graded since. The original 2 cables are now out of production so a new version was sought that had to perform as good as or preferably better.
Rather than just source a cable and fix some connectors on MCRU have spent 6 months perfecting the design and choosing the correct terminations for optimum performance. The results will prove to be one of the very best loudspeaker cable we have yet made.

As standard the cables are terminated with spade connectors for the loudspeaker end and zplugs for the amplifier end. If you require an alternative configuration please request at order placement.

Superb. My speaker cable of choice for quite some years now have been the excellent and highly regarded Kimber 8TC. However, feeling like a change and looking around at what was on offer I found myself attracted to the new MCRU Ultimate Mk2 Speaker Cable. To be honest, they looked the sexiest of the cables on offer and that was what initially drew me to them. However, on receiving them (very quick delivery) they proved to be a whole lot more than just sexy. Wow, I couldn’t believe what an improvement on the Kimber they proved to be. The detail was amazing, I was hearing things I hadn’t realised had been present and the tonal quality was so natural and realistic I found myself being drawn into the music in a way that I had only experienced in live concert conditions. Terrifically detailed bass along with a vanishingly wide soundstage remarkable depth and a lovely tonal quality, living presence indeed. Whether classical, jazz, rock or folk these cables just kept on giving. I’m listening now as I write and my attention is continually being drawn to something new that I had not noticed before. If these cables had been twice (or even three) times the price they would have been worth it. As it is they are a tremendous bargain and should be snapped up without delay. There are no specifications published for these cables but David Brook seems to have worked some kind of magic here and produced speaker cables that are more than a match for some of the vastly more expensive cables on offer. Brilliant!! I decided to take a look at MCRU Ultimate cables after the fantastic results I got from going from my more expensive mains leads to MCRU mains leads – I had planned to buy a couple of new leads and ended up replacing them all. So trying the speaker cables was a bit of a no-brainer as you can just send them back if it doesn’t work out. So I bought similar lengths of Ultimate to compare with my current (much more expensive) cryogenic treated speaker cables. Opening the parcel that the MCRU cables came in wasn’t a disappointment – these cables are beautifully made and look the part. I compared them with my existing for one side of an LP – the old cables were immediately consigned to the bin, these MCRU just blew them away. The soundstage grew deeper and wider (Johnny Cash took two paces forward in my room) , the sense of ease and dynamics was pretty stunning so that even very congested developed a sense of space and timing which allowed subtle detail to shine. There was no bias to any genre of music, everything from PiL to Stravinsky I played benefitted, vinyl via my LP12 or streamed via my Linn DS just grew space ‘air’ and timing. But what really came as a surprise was the fantastic bass….I thought my system was pretty good in this respect but the MCRU Ultimate cables have genuinely added a new dimension. These cables are a absolute bargain.

These are the best cables I have used, fast,articulated and a bargin.
The Top end was a bit harsh at first, but smoothed out after 3 weeks, I was worried that more burn in would make it to relaxed, but that, did not happen.

I took the plunge. The money back guarantee means that this is a very low risk investment.
I had pretty good cables to start with but these are a big step up. You don’t need to spend crazy money to get rewarded.
David is a gent, very helpful and the MCRU service is second to none.

Here we are again – I was blown away by the Ultimate Mk2 cables as can be seen from my review back in 2018.
But then I moved house and they didn’t reach anymore – so I got the Mk3s instead – I had to wait a while as MCRU were waiting on a delivery from Japan. MCRU said sorry, but they will be worth the wait. And worth the wait they certainly are. They are just stunning, everything I said in my review but more of it!
These are just a steal for the dosh, it doesn’t take hours of listening it is apparent straight away.
Listen to these before you pay double or treble (as an aside I sold my original cryo cables for more than I paid for the Mk2’s.)

Outstanding speaker cables! I bought a pair of 2 meter cables
I had been using Audioquest Rocket 22 speaker cables until I bought these. Admittedly there is a price difference (Rocket is about £250 with connectors for 2 x2 meter lengths), compared to £500 for the same length of MCRU Ultimate, but the difference in sound quality is much much more than this would suggest.
The Ultimate has transformed my listening experience and the cables are not yet fully run in.
The overall tone and frequency response is much more balanced. I have a bass response now that was never present before, but it is so articulate and musical, not just the ‘heaviness’ that some cables give in this frequency.
Mid range and treble are equally musical and sweet, with no harshness whatsoever, and as I note, overall beautifully balanced. My Spendor A7 speakers are singing!
Also of note is the incredible transient speed and attack of music now with a brilliant dynamic range. I never believed my speakers could sound so fast and precise, but the Ultimate cables really enable this. It’s wonderful!
The detail and resolution has to be heard to be believed. I’m hearing the breathy whispers and ‘gravel’ behind the sublime vocals of Guy Garvey from Elbow and George Michael. It’s like hearing them anew. Classical music is transformed too!
And, as noted by others, the construction quality is absolutely top notch.
I am thrilled by these cables and for their price, they are an absolute steal.
