2017 has brought us many innovations in Hi-Fi, some are kept quiet for fear of secrets being revealed which could be copied, other innovations are in the public domain but are often too costly to be adopted by the mass market.
As early as the 1970’s mains leads were the subject of much criticism and scorn, many thinking they made no difference at all to sound quality. Fast forward 40+ years and still that same old argument prevails. How can the last 1 metre of cable make any difference when the electricity has traveled miles to get to your house.
Well it hasn’t traveled anywhere it was always in your house from the day you moved in, its travelling around the inside of your house and that’s why its called a “ring” main. So the argument above holds little credence.
The MCRU No.77 is the best cable we have produced in the 9+ years we have been in business and the best the company owner has ever heard, it is not MCRU policy to compare the cables we make to other brands/manufacturers, all we can say is most have been heard over the last 30 years and none compare to the No.77.
The “7 Series” cables we have launched comprise of budget and esoteric models, the No.77 is the best we can possibly produce. There is no secret that our mains leads perform way above their respective price points, proven by existing customer feed-backs and repeat orders. We have used the most up to date modern cable with DUCC copper and active screening and shieldingĀ technology combined with our own specially chosen tweaks underneath the No.77’s specially chosen braiding and inside the mains plug and IEC are our own bespoke additions which have proven to make our mains leads sound better and get you one step closer to that artist in the room feeling.
The No.77 is not for the feint hearted, it is so good you will want more than one, so beware, when purchasing you will almost certainly be back for more. Yes it is that good.

Professor Ali Rattansi –
David Brook says that this is the best mains cable he has heard. It is also the best I have heard, and I discovered the joys–and snake oil– of mains cables in the mid-1990s when I experimented with the Russ Andrews products.
Since then I have tried and used a huge variety: LAT, Nordost (of course!), Audience, Chord, Naim PowerLines, Entreq, Vertex, Cardas, Furutech, Zensati, and some whose names I can’t recall offhand. The mark 2 Nordosts and Audience AU24SE have impressed the most, but Chord Sarum T, Entreq Challenger 2V and High Res Vertex have also been good. The Furutech Powerflux is also good. But most cost a lot more than the MCRU 77.
David Brook’s experience in putting together mains cables that punch well beyond their asking price is well known. He has a few tricks up his sleeve which transform ordinary cables into something special, and this is sertainly true of the MCRU 77. It outperforms the most expensive mains cable in my current system, the Nordost Tyr 2. More open , more three dimensional, more detailed…and more fun because more lively, but also somehow enables the music to make a greater emotional connection.
A mains cable? Yes, believe it or not. I’m now on my second one, both with the SR BLUE fuses. It takes a good 75-100 hours to come fully on song, but then allows your system to sing its heart out. If you are looking for the best value for money high end mains cable, this is the one, no doubt about it. Try it: like me, you’ll come back for more! And then another one…well done, David!
