Furutech is justifiably proud of its reputation for engineering, build-quality and performance, and have won the loyal support of audio enthusiasts worldwide for their finely made and beautiful sounding cables and audio accessories.
Furutech performance is legendary in the hi-fi industry, and they continue to bring exceptional and innovative products to the market that are carefully engineered to guarantee the best sound.
One such set of innovative products is the Piezo Ceramic series of connectors – a Furutech first.
Furutech’s Pure Transmission FI-50 Piezo Ceramic series of connector bodies and housings feature several breakthrough construction techniques. A multi-layer non-magnetic stainless steel and carbon-fibre shell incorporates a special damping and insulating acetal co-polymer. Furutech settled on stainless and carbon-fibre for the outer housing after extensive listening sessions with Japanese industry figures and audiophiles.
The body of the connectors combines two “active” materials: nano-sized ceramic particles and powdered carbon. (Only nano-sized ceramic particles effectively couples with carbon powder.) Nylon and fibre-glass are incorporated as well, forming an extremely effective, well damped, mechanically and electrically non-resonant connector body. That’s correct – they’re electrically damped as well.
Piezo-electric effects are the key. Furutech’s breakthrough in design and materials is based on employing nano-sized polycrystalline ferroelectric ceramic particles exhibiting electro-generative properties; mechanical pressure creates an electrical charge forming a bridge between electrical and mechanical oscillation.
Carbon powder exhibits thermal-conductive characteristics that interact with the charged ferro-ceramic particles, converting their energy into heat that’s conducted away and released from the surface of the connector body.
These carefully chosen and tested “active” materials mechanically and electrically damp the connector and receptacle as they “inter-convert” thermal, mechanical, and electrical energy for the finest Furutech Pure Transmission signal imaginable.
As usual, Furutech employs its patented alpha cryogenic process and demagnetising of all contact pins to make this plug a true reference product. Whilst rhodium is not such a good conductor as silver or gold, it brings a flavour to music that many audiophiles love; and adding Furutech’s FI-52M rhodium-plated plug to a power cord used on high-current equipment will bring the appropriate sonic benefits to your system because of this.
