For many years the MK Toughplug has been recognised as the standard audiophile-grade plug available at reasonable cost. It accepts a wide variety of cable thicknesses, but does need modifying internally to fit larger diameter wires.
Available here in brass, which is then gold-plated, all contact pins and screws are treated with Caig De-Oxit to chemically clean the plug contacts for better performance.
The gold-plating is carried out by a supplier founded in 1951, so their pedigree is beyond reproach. Gold may not be as good a conductor as silver, but it is still more effective than standard brass; and gold-plating adds an extra warmth to the sound of your hi-fi system.
The MK Toughplug is also available in standard brass, as well as silver plated versions.

Great quality
If you want some decent plugs look no further. These are the classics and ooze quality. Solid, with really good gold plating. Personally I prefer these to the rhodium ones… but I like a mellow sound.

Excellent quality plug as you’d expect from MK. Swapped a silver plug for this gold one and it smoothed the sound nicely. Exactly what I was looking for. Also came with a gold plated 13A fuse fitted.

This gave me a very nice improvement, increased the soundstage and detail with no harshness added at all. This was used on a CD player, replacing a standard copper plug with silver plated fuse. Exactly as hoped…
