The MCRU Supra LoRad Audiophile Mains Lead is a proven, no-nonsense upgrade designed to reduce electrical noise at its source and allow high-resolution audio systems to perform at their true potential. Based on the renowned LoRad (Low Radiation) design from Supra Cables, this mains lead focuses on measurable performance improvements rather than cosmetic excess.
Modern homes are saturated with RF and electromagnetic interference generated by switch-mode power supplies, routers, lighting systems and household appliances. Standard mains cables act as both transmitters and receivers of this noise, allowing it to enter sensitive audio components where it degrades timing, raises the noise floor and masks fine musical detail. The Supra LoRad design directly addresses this problem through effective shielding and careful conductor geometry.
The cable uses tightly twisted conductors combined with a semi-conductive shielding layer that dramatically reduces radiated and incoming interference. This prevents noise from both entering your hi-fi components and being emitted back into the mains, improving overall system cleanliness. When used consistently across a system, the result is a lower perceived noise floor, improved dynamic contrast, tighter bass control and greater clarity through the midrange and treble.
MCRU supply the Supra LoRad mains lead fully terminated and optimised for audiophile use, making it suitable for source components, DACs, streamers, preamps, power amplifiers and active loudspeakers. It is particularly effective in systems where digital components and analogue electronics share the same power environment, helping to preserve signal integrity and musical coherence.
Unlike many so-called “audiophile” power cables, the Supra LoRad does not impose a sonic character of its own. Instead, it allows equipment to sound more like itself—cleaner, calmer and more resolved. Transients become more precise, background silence improves, and subtle low-level information is easier to follow. The presentation feels less forced and more natural, especially at realistic listening levels.
Built to robust European safety standards and designed for long-term reliability, the MCRU Supra LoRad Audiophile Mains Lead is a sensible, high-value foundation upgrade. For systems already optimised in terms of components and setup, it represents one of the most cost-effective ways to reduce noise and unlock further musical performance.
