The MKII version has a better mains plug and fuse as well as acoustic braiding.
The No. 85 will bring improvements in sound quality to a wide range of audio equipment, it was originally designed to work with Naim equipment but has since proved it will sound good with a wide variety of kit.
The No. 85 mains lead uses Furutech cable and silver plated connectors, all who have used it have remarked how good it is, especially for Naim equipment. 1.2 metres long as standard.
The cable is silver plated copper in construction with shielding and screening to reject RFI/EMI as well as a built in faraday cage to stop the cable acting as an aerial.
Terminations are now an MS HD Power silver plated plug with silver plated fuse and a Furutech cryo treated silver plated IEC connector. The MKII version also has our acoustic braiding on the outside of the cable for resonance absorption. All in all an exceptionally good mains lead which will give your system an instant sound quality up-grade, proven by existing customer feed-backs.

It’s not just good with Naim!
If you read my results with the Excelium DC blocker, you’ll find the path that led me to replace my CD-attached Naim Powerline with the MCRU No.85 mains lead. When David said he could provide me with something that would beat the Powerline hands down, he wasn’t kidding – and at around 50% of its retail price. The most noticeable thing was a more three-dimensional soundstage with improved height and width – both vocals and instruments now have a much more ‘solid’ feel to them. There was also an increase in detail retrieval and tighter bass reproduction. And here I must say that I have no Naim equipment, but this mains lead works for me.
In my opinion, you need to make sure that your mains feed is of a good standard, otherwise this cable can make things sound a little woolly and ill-defined during peak listening times. This is why I lay the cable at 90 degrees over the DC blocker’s filter housing – it works for me! If you use an extension block, then I would suggest running a DC blocker to that before employing the No.85 – IMO, another great product at a great price.
