In reply to the many questions I am asked about what is the best mains cable to use for starter systems and up-grades from the shop bought mains cord supplied with the equipment, the answer is Belden 19364. Not just for starter systems either, many big name manufacturers use this cable in their supplied power cords.
I have used this in my own system for a number of years and can confirm the performance versus price is exceptional, it is widely used by many major manufacturers in their OEM cables, below is a brief over-view:-
The Belden 19364 is an excellent quality mains cable and has audio enhancing benefits. The cable is rated at 300 volts while each core can handle up to 18 amps current. It’s constructed from three 2mm Sq (AWG 14) cores with a PVC Jacket. It’s shielded with a drain wire. The outer shield is made of Aluminum Foil-Polyester Tape called Beldfoil® and gives a 100% coverage to all cores the bare drain wire runs the length of the cable and sits in contact with the Beldfoil® and when connected to the earth pin at the wall socket end of the cable it creates a ground loop. This gives the cable an excellent resilience to mains interference as any present is simply grounded and returned to earth away from the audio equipment helping to lower the noise floor giving more space and added detail to the sound.
The cable has been in use for over 20 years and if you want to see what the fuss is all about you can buy some off my website here.
