WHO ARE MCRU?
Based in Huddersfield we have been enjoying recorded music for over 30 years, avid collectors of vinyl/cd/sacd we are passionate about music and committed audio tweakers. Always on the lookout for ways to improve the listening experience for ourselves and our customers who number in the thouands.
Audiophiles of West Yorkshire now have a new hi-fi retailer in the heart of Yorkshire, Huddersfield to be exact. MCRU are no strangers to hi-fi, we have been audiophiles since the 1980’s. MCRU started as a small cable seller 5+ years ago, now we represent some of the biggest and most respected accessory and hardware brands in hifi.
WHY HUDDERSFIELD?
Our new premises are literally 5-10 minutes drive from the M62, Manchester is 20 minutes away as is Leeds. We are easy to find and once you visit and find our Aladdins Cave of hifi goodies you will be back. We actively encourage our customers to pop in to see us as its good to put a face to a name, have a cup of yorkshire tea and listen to some tunes.
WHAT BRANDS DO YOU STOCK?
We started out selling our own brand of cables, mains extension blocks and speaker cables, as we have grown as a business we carry extensive stocks of branded items from famous names, we do not sell ANYTHING that we don’t believe in and would use ourselves (indeed we do use most of what we sell in our own system and dem systems) so many of the more popular cable “names” are not on our stocks list! This philosophy has proven to work well judging by our returns rate ( we have always offered a money back guarantee with everything we sell).
As we are predominantly known as a mains related company our number one brand is IsoTek Systems who we support and like! An IsoTek mains conditioner has been in the MCRU home system for over 10 years and will never be replaced as we have never heard anything as good for similar cost. Based in the UK IsoTek are the un-disputed leaders in mains filtration and power conditioning, IsoTek we salute you!
Furutech have been our number 1 accessory brand almost since day 1. Japanese engineering at it’s best. No stone is left un-turned in the quest for ultimate audio performance, few company’s we know of have the passion and commitment that Furutech have.
Black Rhodium have been in business for many years, founded by Graham Nalty they are also based in the UK and are manufacturers of some of the finest cables we have ever heard. We work closely with Black Rhodium and will continue to do so, their Cantata stereo interconnect is amongst the finest set of “wires” on the planet!
Clearaudio of Germany are the un-disputed analogue masters, makers of the famous “Statement” turntable plus a plethora of analogue and vinyl related goodies. They even make an LP drill for those pesky records that get stuck on the turntable centre spindle when you try to lift them back off! Probably our most prestigious brand which we are proud to be associated with.
Another UK based cable company with a similar pedigree to all our favorite cables makers are Tellurium Q. They entered the hi-fi scene about 6 years ago and have grown to become many audiophiles first choice for cables. Their Black Diamond speaker cables have to be heard to be believed. Suffice to say Tellurium Q will be staying as one of our preferred cable partners.

Many of our customers live 100’s of miles away, many even 1000’s, we send orders to every country in the world (except may north korea) so a personal visit is not always practical or necessary, because of our money back guarantee you have 30 days to decide if anything purchased from us is suitable for your system, as an example a streamer or a DAC, if the otem foes not “gel” with your kit simply box it back up and we will arrange for it to be collected and refund you or suggest an alternative product. In 5+ years of trading our returns rate is exceptionally low because we know what sounds good and what doesn’t! You can have complete confidence dealing with us.

MCRU are realists, we all have wives and kids to feed, although we don’t accept part exchanges regularly often they are necessary to help our clients reach their audio goals!
