Audioworld Brighton 2014

MCRU made the 5 hour trip to Brighton to showcase their products at Audioworld Brighton run by the Chester Group who also bring us the Whittlebury Show in September. We were in room 127 on the first floor.

MCRU count amongst their product range some of the biggest and best brands in hifi accessories, we support Furutech, Clearaudio, IsoTek, Canor, Oyaide, Tellurium Q and many more, we also have our own range of products made in-house or by carefully selected partners with proven expertise in their chosen markets.

To exhibit or best system at the show we chose the leader in audiophile vinyl re-production, Clearaudio of Germany. The Clearaudio Master Innovation Turntable was used throughout the 2 days at Audioworld, fitted with one of the very best cartridges ever made, “The Goldfinger” at a cool £8995 it is made from solid gold! The entire vinyl front end was running through the Clearaudio Statement phono stage, surely one of the best in it’s class.

Amplification for the MCRU show system was provided by Canor, experts in tube technology and manufacturer of the excellent TP106VR+ integrated tube amplifier which was used for both days. We also used the amplifier driven by the Music First Audio pure silver transformer pre-amp which retails for £6000.

Hotel rooms are notoriously difficult to exhibit a top flight hi-fi system in due to the inconsistency if the mains supply, luckily MCRU work closely with the UK’s leaders in mains filtration and conditioning, IsoTek Systems. We used the excellent IsoTek Titan with an IsoTek Aquarius to provide stable filtered electricity to power the components.

Cabling for the system came from Tellurium Q and their top of the range “Black Diamond” cables, speaker and interconnects, mains cables were MCRU Ultimate throughout. The final component in the system and probably the most important are the loudspeakers, rather than follow the herd MCRU have always been innovators, we have heard many speakers throughout our 30+ years of being audiophiles, to truly get the best possible sound we commissioned a well known designer and his business partner who builds the speakers to make a pair to our own specification, the MCRU No.127 loudspeakers were born, sounding rather special in this system for Audioworld and indeed sounding special anyway, the speakers can be trialled by potential customers in our dem rooms or at home, the speakers are a 2 way design incorporating an additional rear firing tweeter with adjustable l-pad, watch out for a review of the speakers very soon in hi-fi world magazine.
