The Return Of The “Claymore Amplifier”
The Incatech Claymore amplifier was a game changing design in the 1980’s, re-defining what was possible in amplifier design, the brainchild of Colin Wonfor who now designs electronics for Tellurium Q, Colin has brought the Claymore into the 21st century with a super-charged version for today’s discerning audiophiles.
The original Claymore still sounds good even though the design is almost 30 years old, with today’s desire for convenience from audio such as i-pod docks and usb connections, the new Claymore has been up-dated so it can take it’s rightful place as a true 21st century audiophile amplifier.
Prices at £3760 the new Claymore has all that is needed to survive as the heart of a quality hi-fi system, a usb input allows connection of external audio devices such as i-pods, tablets, hdd based music devices and much more, for the die hard vinyl enthusiasts the Claymore has a very good built in MM or MC phono stage as did the original 30 years ago. Very neat and a full rack width, the Claymore can take pride of place in any hi-fi system, budget or high end. It also has a well thought out remote control which is both well laid out and heavy enough so as not to get lost easily.
The Claymore has been reviewed recently by Tony Bolton for Hi-Fi World magazine, here is the review to read in Hi-Fi World. Part 1 and Part 2. The amplifier is on demonstration at MCRU in Huddersfield and also a dem model can be supplied on request, we have been listening to the amplifier in our won system for more than 2 weeks and can report the Claymore is an exceptional amplifier, we use it with a Clearaudio Innovation turntable, MCRU music server and Longdog Audio VDt1 DAC, playing into our resident elecricbeach frugel 3 horn loudspeakers, all cabled with Tellurium Q black diamond throughout, the Claymore delivers a sumptuous sound both with vinyl and with hi-res music files (dsd sounds particularly stunning).

the MCRU reference demo system
If you are serious about hi-fi the Claymore has to be heard, MCRU feel this is truly an amplifier for the 21st century and will be classed as a classic as was the original 30 years ago, buy it here.
