MCRU No. 84 Schuko Silver Plated Mains Power Block – Oyaide Schuko Plug

This block is fitted with schuko sockets for use in europe where mains plugs have no fuses fitted, generally this results in better sound quality as the fuse is removed from the signal path. Only the UK, China, Cyprus and 1 or 2 other country’s use fused mains plugs, all other countries use fuseless plugs. This item is supplied as standard with an Oyaide C037 rhodium/silver plated schuko plug.

MCRU launch a 4, 6 or 8 way mains extension block with silver plated internal rails fitted with schuko sockets. The block is manufactured in germany and is aluminium lined. The on/off switch and light have been dis-abled to improve sound quality, a must for serious audiophiles.

The block is fully silver plated internally using our UK plater who has been in business over 50 years so knows a thing or two about plating. The quality of work is exceptional and silver plating improves conductivity, proven by simple physics. We silver plate most of our plugs and connectors as we feel it gives on of the best sound characteristics for anyone who is serious about their music.

Cable wise we solder the wire directly to the internal rails of the block using Oyaide silver solder as we have not found anything better, the internal rails of the schuko block are silver plated including the earth strips. Soldering the wire direct has we found, made the signal path far cleaner and sound quality improved as a result.

The cable itself is also silver plated and we fit an Oyaide C037 audiophile grade schuko plug which is silver and rhodium plated. Finally a substantial ferrite ring is fitted over the cable to combat the effects of RFI/EMI which can have a detrimental effect on sound quality.
